Go On a Staycation/Craftcation With The Girl

Québec City is still at the top of our list. Some place in Old Town with breakfast in bed. 🙂

Yesterday though, I read an article about a man who is having a hard time finding Nessie. So maybe we need to go and help? It’s still a craftcation if you work on said crafts on the airplane and at night in the hotel, right?

Card by OrnamentLetterPress on Etsy

Send 52 Cards To 52 Different People. {15 of 52 mailed so far}

Currently working on card #16 & #17.

Make 12 Totally British Recipes In The AGA.

I need to get going on this!

Turn The Craft Room Into a Proper Studio Space

The good news is, the carpet is out, all my crafty bits have been sorted {and the odds and ends listed on Etsy} and my new light fixture is supposed to arrive next week.

It’s not the big beautiful and overpriced dandelion fixture I had thought I wanted {too flashy for the space I decided} but a more elegant capiz shell fixture {that goes with the coastal vibe of our place} instead.

Lighting is tricky, especially when you throw in a high ceiling with beams, but I’ve made my decision and I’m sticking with it.

I’ll share some pictures after my handyman {the HH} installs it.

Changes I plan on making to the space:

  • Rip out the old gross carpet and replace it with pine floors
  • Fresh paint
  • A proper light fixture {ordered}
  • New serger
  • New work table {I ordered 3!}
  • A sitting area with a spot to hook

Hook 100 Rugs {50 of 100 done so far}

I am currently working on rugs #51 and #52.

These days, I like to work on multiple rugs at a time as they seem to be getting larger and larger. Sometimes I need a break from one, so when that happens, I’ll work on the other for a bit.

Create 15 New Rug Hooking Patterns 11 of 15 completed so far}

My latest rug hooking pattern is called Mable’s Kittens.

New patterns I’ve added to my Etsy shop in 2023:

Revisit An Old Friend.

I’m working on it! I’m nearly there. I’m just waiting for 1 more thing to arrive.

Grow 1,000 Pounds of Vegetables In The Commune Sized Garden

My Rhode Island Greening Apple Trees and Liberty and Fuji apples are in, and the field is drying out, so that’s good news.

The HH seems to think he will be able to bring the tractor down to the religious family sized garden and add the 20 yards of garden soil I’ve already ordered sometime next week.

We just have one more night in the 30’s in the forecast, so after that, we should be good to go. I think I’ll start hardening off my tomato and pepper plants in a few days, that way they will be ready to plant in the ground at the end of the month.

Empty The Canning Cupboard / Fill The Canning Cupboard

I feel like we’ve been plowing through the salsa and jam lately. I need to get to work on those jars of asparagus though, maybe make a pasta salad and some quiche with it.

Make $500 Selling Plants, Flowers or Vegetables {I’ve made $24 so far.}

I haven’t checked with the Duck Lady to see if I’ve sold any plants this past week but I did stop by someone else’s stand and buy myself a $5 bouquet of parrot tulips {what a deal!!!}

So far I’ve sold:

{3} 6- packs of pea starts @$2 each = $6.00
{4} Daffodil bouquets @$3 & $4 each = $14.00
{2} Chives @$2 each = $4.00

Buy 12 Handmade Items {From 12 Different Artists} 5 down, 7 to go

I purchased 3 linen aprons from BedCult on Etsy and I absoultly love them. I’ve ordered pillow shams from them before and they do great work!

So far this year I have bought:

Update Every Single Recipe On The Blog To A Printable Format

I updated my Cherry Almond Jam recipe. {Have you tried this yet!?}

26 Official Date Days With My Handsome Husband {10 down, 16 to go}

Jameson Point Lobster Company is open for the summer so we stopped by and had fish tacos and onion rings for lunch. {Crazy good!}

Now we’re just waiting for Bet’s Fish Fry in Boothbay to open.

Seasonal eating establishments, it’s one of our favorite parts about Maine.

Goals already accomplished 2023:

Go On A Solo Adventure.  Done

A solo adventure to Fair Isle. I don’t think I could have picked a more unique, isolated and cozy spot to spend a few weeks. I’m already dreaming of going back.

Take An Adult Education Class Done

The Girl and I took a 3 day British Baking Classics course at King Arthur Flour in Norwich, Vermont and had a good time. My favorite thing we made was the sticky toffee pudding

Set Aside 200 Items For A Yard Sale DONE!

The yard sale was a great success! The Duck Lady and I were both able to get rid of a lot of items we didn’t want and as an added bonus, I only had 1 box of stuff to drop off at the thrift store. Yee-Haw!

How about YOU? How are you coming along with your goals for this year?
