But you don’t have to leave the neighborhood to find something amazing; we 78704-ers love to be outside and can walk to anything our hearts desire. We’ve got the best restaurants—low-key Mexican joints, neighborly coffee shops and nationally renowned spots like Uchi—plus several parks and creeks that attract wildlife. I really love the eclectic vibe of the area: cute bungalows mixed with modern architecture, creative types alongside technology gurus, young families and older residents walking the streets.

Want an awesome outdoor dining experience? Fresa’s is the perfect laid-back place to sip on margaritas and dip into some good queso. Just look for the neon chicken on South First! (P.S. Did you know that you can order margaritas to go? Highly recommend the prickly pear.)

Centered in the middle of Travis Heights are Stacy Park and Blunn Creek. Walking along the creek and trails of Stacy Park, it is so peaceful that one feels as if they are miles away from the city. And, finally, along the northern edge of Travis Heights is Lady Bird Lake and the hike-and-bike trail. Whether you are walking, biking or running, this section of the trail and lake is one of the most beautiful places in Austin.

Dining at Aba is an experience, “like taking a mini-vacation,” says Carl. The atmosphere and food will sweep you away to the Mediterranean. Combined with its excellent service, Aba is an easy choice for one of his personal favorite places for lunch or dinner in Austin.
One of my favorite patios in Austin, Summer House, is a relaxing and beautiful spot to unwind and enjoy a casual yet sophisticated lunch or dinner. A perfect place to walk to in the Travis Heights neighborhood.
My favorite spot for lunch along South Congress Avenue, Café No Sé, is an all-day cafe with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Carl says, “I’ve tried everything on the menu, and everything is good!”

Westover Hills is a small and friendly neighborhood. It’s not too far away from Downtown, but it feels quiet, tranquil and timeless. In addition to its prime location, Westover boasts excellent schools across the board.
Westover Hills is a great neighborhood for those who love an active lifestyle. Barrow Preserve and Steck Valley Parks are just a short distance away and offer great trails for hiking and biking. You also don’t have to go far to find great restaurant.

Allandale is home to green space and the best of Austin parks, like Northwest Park. With its excellent schools, it has become an increasingly popular place for growing families. Proximity to Downtown and the Domain area makes Allandale an easy choice for commuters.

Fonda San Miguel is my go-to for family celebrations or a quiet night at the bar. An Austin staple since 1975, I love the Mexican folk art displayed throughout the restaurant. Known for its interior Mexican cuisine, I never miss the ceviche and a pescado dish, as well as the crepes for dessert.
A furniture piece (or 10) from Uptown Modern is the perfect companion to Allandale’s midcentury vibe. All of their pieces are lovingly restored to their original glory. They also have an assortment of vintage light fixtures, art and cocktail glasses (my fave).
My favorite (and prettiest) garden store in town. On an acre and a half of green, the nursery has the best plant and succulent selection that I have seen, as well as imported pottery and water features. It’s an easy place to swing by for gardening supplies or a gift.

Solid is my favorite local furniture and home decor store. Every piece is hand-selected by the owners. Their look is stylish without being showy, just like Austin.

A short walk from our Pemberton home, Texas French Bread is the best spot for post-church brunch or a weekday coffee with a client. The airy outdoor space offers plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
