We recently decided that our own house could use a little more “curb appeal”, so we hopped online to try and find a tutorial that might help us making something nice.
Just in case you love the idea of making yourself some DIY front yard decor just as much as we do, if not more, here are 15 of the very best ideas, designs, and tutorials that we’ve come across so far in our search for inspiration!
1. House number flower pots
If you’re going to put in all the time and effort it takes to make something custom with which to decorate your front yard, would you actually prefer it to also serve some kind of practical purpose? Well, if you live in the kind of house where the house number isn’t currently very easy to see from the street then we’d definitely suggest taking a look at how DIY Showoff made this lovely flower pot display that has the numbers painted nice and big on the front of each. Set them somewhere they can be seen nice and clearly from the road!
2. DIY grassy modern house number
Have we really caught your attention with the idea of overhauling the way your home’s house number looks, but it doesn’t need to be quite as large as the first idea since it doesn’t actually sit that far from the road? Then maybe you need need a style improvement! We’re huge fans of the way A Beautiful Mess made their house number suit the garden and greenery around their yard a little better by building this vertical planter style house number box filled with lush looking faux grass.
3. DIY address post and hanging planter
Just in case neither of the above options really solves your house number dilemma or quite makes up your minds in terms of style, here’s another design for your consideration! Take a look at how Hello Farmhouse brought their house number down a little further towards the road for better visibility by putting it on the side of an address post. We love the way they added some pretty curb appeal by attached a hanging planter hook to one side for flowers.
4. Chandelier planter
Perhaps you’d prefer to decorate your porch, front patio, or any outdoor space that has an overhang? Well, if upcycling old home elements has ever appeal to you then we think DIY Showoff might have the perfect tutorial, especially if you’ve ever been a fan of chandeliers. They show you how to strip, paint, and plant in an actual old vintage chandelier before mounting it in a spot that could use a little bit of a statement.
5. Simple DIY window box
Maybe you are quite intent on adding some extra curb appeal to your house but you’re convinced that a simple, more classic piece will be enough, since you don’t want to distract from the already stunning facade of your house?
